AML Sector Risk Assessment Updated

6 October, 2025

The CLC has today published its updated Sector Risk Assessment for AML.

The Sector assessment has been fully updated in light of the National Risk Assessment 2025 produced by the Home Office and HM Treasury.

This edition contains a new, dedicated section on corporate entities as clients (find it under 'client risk factors') which looks in detail at the risks for CLC practices undertaking CDD on corporate clients;

The Assessment identifies three emerging risks:

A. Use of cryptocurrency in conveyancing transactions;

B. Use of AI to circumvent CDD; and

C. Property developers.

Read the full Assessment and use it to refresh your own Practice Wide Risk Assessment.
