CLC Consults on Regulatory Fees for 2025-26

11 July, 2025

We need your views on regulatory fees and fee rates for the licence year beginning 1 November 2025.

The key proposals:

  • Individual practising certificate fees will remain unchanged, having been frozen for over ten years – a huge real-terms cut over that period.
  • We propose to increase practice fee rates by 3% to take account of inflation.
  • Licence Administration fees are also set to increase by 3% to take account of inflation.
  • Compensation Fund contributions (made by practices) are proposed to increase by 6% to take account of increased demands on the Fund.

For the licence year 2015-16, the average practice fee rate was 1.25% of turnover. Over the last ten years we have been able to reduce that rate very considerably, and the proposal in this consultation for the licence year 2025-2026 will set the average practice fee rate at just 0.58%.

You can find out more and have your say through this Consultation Paper which you should review before responding by email or letter or by completing this online questionnaire

We have extended the deadline for responses to 5pm on Friday, 12th September.
