Trainees

SQA approved centres delivering CLC qualifications primarily use established online or distance learning platforms. These continue to provide students with access to course materials, tutors and assessors. Centres are working directly with those affected to establish a way of ensuring their continued learning. Students can undertake SQA assessments online where this is available and should contact their provider if they have any questions.

The CLC continues to liaise with providers to understand how they are seeking to ensure that teaching and assessments are delivered.

Apprentices

Government guidance makes it clear that apprentices can be furloughed in the same way as other employees and you can continue to train whilst furloughed.

However, your employer must pay you at least the Apprenticeship Minimum Wage, National Living Wage or National Minimum Wage (AMW/NLW/NMW) as appropriate for all the time you spend training. This means they must cover any shortfall between the amount they can claim for your wages through the scheme and the appropriate minimum wage.

The Government’s guidance has been updated with information on training and assessing apprentices in line with the government’s new safer working guidelines, calculating wages for furloughed apprentices, off-the-job training, and redundant apprentices

If you have any questions your employer isn’t able to help you with you do contact your training provider.

And this site may help answer your questions.

The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education has also published new guidance on the delivery of assessment.
