Overview of probate

When a person dies, someone has to deal with their affairs.

Probate is the legal process of administering the estate of a deceased person by resolving all claims and distributing the deceased person’s property in accordance with a valid will.

A probate practitioner is a person qualified in the law of succession, trusts law, relevant aspects of property law relating to inheritance and the administration of estates. They have been granted the right to undertake probate.
