Annual Regulatory Return

The Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) requires the firms it regulates to complete an online Annual Regulatory Return.

Emails are being sent to designated contacts in practices inviting them to complete the questionnaire. Those emails are sent from the following address:

The purpose of the Annual Regulatory Return is to gather vital information about CLC-licensed organisations. This will be used to:

  • target the CLC's regulatory activities better;
  • ensure we continue to protect consumers effectively; and
  • support innovation in the delivery of legal services.

Only one response is required per licensed organisation.

Completion of the Annual Regulatory Return is a regulatory requirement for all organisations licensed by the CLC. The unique link to the survey for your firm will be sent to your designated practice contact directly from IFF Research who are working for the CLC.

The survey asks you to report on the last completed PII year – that is the one on which you reported to PI insurers at the time of renewal in June, unless the question specifies otherwise.

The length of the Annual Regulatory Return will vary between organisations, but if you are properly prepared, it should only take around 30 minutes to complete.

This survey is hosted by IFF Research, an independent research company. IFF Research strictly abides by the Market Research Society Code of Conduct. Your answers will be treated in strict confidence in accordance with the Data Protection Act and will only be shared with the CLC for purposes of the Annual Regulatory Return.

If you have any questions or if you are having difficulties completing the online survey, please contact Zainab Hazel or Sam Stroud at IFF Research ( / or by telephone on 020 7250 3035.

The closing date for the Annual Regulatory Return is 17.00 on Friday 25th August 2017, by which time all CLC-licensed organisations must have submitted a completed response.
